In Transition
Rev. Jeff Kellam was honorably retired by the Presbytery of Geneva at its meeting on September 25, 2007. As we enter the Fall of 2007, worship will be led by visiting ministers, and then by an Interim Pastor who will be with us until our Pastor Nominating Committee helps us choose our new pastor. In the meantime, we continue to remember our strengths as a congregation:
- Our choir will inspire us with song, our bells will ring out, and children will be encouraged to use their talents, all under the leadership of our new music director, Bryan Lilley and our talented organist Doris Dunlap.
- Our lay liturgists will provide worship leadership, leading us in prayer and the word. Folks will continue to provide goodies and coffee for the fellowship time following worship.
- Our church is strong in spirit, growing in faith, eager to fulfill mission and outreach challenges, and financially stable.
- We will continue to serve our neighbors by contributing to - and volunteering for - the Food Pantry.
- We will continue to host the Red Cross Blood Drive by offering the hospitality of our Chapel.
- We will continue to welcome AA twice a week. We will enjoy the continuing presence of the Trumansburg Community Nursery School in our Chapel.
- We will continue to share a gentle morning message with our youth in the Children’s Conversation.
- We will offer Sunday School opportunities, blessed by eager and committed teachers and a fine curriculum, “Seasons of the Spirit.”
- Our newsletter will let us know what’s to come in a creative and winsome way.
- Our senior high youth group will meet regularly under the direction of Debby Koehler, enjoying fellowship, fun, faith and service.
- Our men will still enjoy Saturday breakfasts, sharing news, ideas, and conversation.
- Ulysses Presbyterian Women will honor long traditions and explore new opportunities for service and fellowship.
- The Mission Knitters will keep knitting and sharing with members and friends who will treasure the prayer shawls and lap blankets.
- We will still hold our many opportunities for fellowship: weeknight dinners, our Christmas Progressive Dinner, ice cream socials, and more.
- Richard Pang will still be a beloved presence in the kitchen, and a talented arranger of flowers for Sunday worship.
- The church tent will continue to enable neighbors to gather for all kinds of fellowship.
- Volunteers will keep our buildings and grounds attractive and safe.
- Committees will meet, keeping up our mission of Christian nurture, outreach and service, congregational support, stewardship programs, financial opportunities, and the heart of our church: weekly worship.
- We will continue to surround one another in prayer when joys and concerns remind us of God's compassion, Christ the Healer, and the Spirit's awesome presence.
Knowing all this, we hope you agree with us that, even as we wait for the person God will call to be our next pastor, we are still the family, this is still the place, and your presence in our midst keeps us strong, vital in ministry, and faithful in service!
